About Caroline

My name is Caroline Forsyth and I’m an experienced counsellor / psychotherapist working from the Isle of Skye offering therapy for individuals (age 16+)

Seeking help from a counsellor or psychotherapist is something many folk consider, especially when life gets difficult. Counselling is a confidential talking therapy that involves a trained counsellor/therapist listening to you and helping you find a way through emotional issues.

Counselling gives us a safe, confidential space to talk about our ‘stuff’, to explore thoughts, feelings and concerns and get a better handle on what’s going on for us. I’ve greatly benefited from counselling throughout my life and finding someone who could ‘hear’ me and help me make sense of what was going on for me has been so helpful; it’s a privilege to now do similar for others.

My background is in supporting people. Through various roles in the Highlands, I’ve worked with young people and adults; supported people with severe and enduring mental illness and worked with businesses to grow and develop their people.

Through my counselling practice I have experience of working with a wide range of issues that many of us experience, including anxiety; depression / low mood; stress; grief and loss; eating disorders and body image issues; LGBTQ+; life transitions; trauma; abuse; self-esteem

Sometimes, though we can’t quite put our fingers on what’s going on for us; we know something isn’t quite right but don’t always know what the particular issue is. Often it becomes clear when talking things through in counselling.

My way of working

My practice is person-centred, which means we work in partnership, putting your needs at the centre of the process. I work in a trauma informed way, and I believe that the therapeutic relationship we form is the foundation of successful therapy so I work hard to build a strong, honest and trusting relationship with each of my clients.

We will work together, working towards goals and looking at obstacles that are getting in the way. Working to identify feelings, recognise and understand them better and pay attention to what is important to you.

I am particularly experienced in working with the impact of trauma and have an interest in how our early experiences can impact us throughout our lives.

I am experienced in providing both short and longer term counselling / psychotherapy.
